We seek wines, grapes, and vineyards that deserve a second look. Our name was inspired by the second opportunity created by a puck, deflected by a hockey goalie and ricocheted to open ice.

This inspired exclamation was coined by famed hockey announcer Jack Edwards.

From Detroit to California With Love

How did two Detroiters dare to dream of making wine?

For Douglas, a high-school French Club trip to France opened his eyes to the possibilities. Mary, an aspiring artist, worked her way through school selling wine and discovered the ties binding art and the vine.

The result was a honeymoon, four years of living and working in Burgundy, and a lifetime dedicated to learning their craft.

Our wines are aged in French oak barrels. Have you ever seen how barrels are made? The process is complex and largely done by hand. Barrels are one more detail in the craft of fine winemaking.
